St. Augustine Wedding Magic - Lightner Courtyard and The White Room
David and Stacey met nearly eight years ago at the University of Florida, and their relationship quickly turned into something extraordinary. They eventually moved in together and adopted a feline fur-baby, Jack (named after the swashbuckling Disney pirate, Jack Sparrow). They are Disney fanatics, and he proposed to her at Cinderella’s Castle, amongst fireworks and a ballroom filled with guests applauding! They chose downtown St. Augustine for their wedding day with a romantic ceremony in the Lightner Courtyard and a reception at the White Room overlooking the bay.
Here is what our lovely bride Stacey had to say about their day:
"David and I are both from Florida, me from Jacksonville and him from Ft Lauderdale. Since we live in Gainesville now, we knew we wanted something close by, but that still had sentimental value. St Augustine was the perfect choice! We've both always loved Spanish architecture and culture; and we knew we wanted the water to somehow be incorporated into our day. The White Room provided the fantastic balcony views of the river while the Lightner Museum courtyard provided a unique and authentic St Augustine background that we wanted for our "I Do's." Not seeing each other before the ceremony was a decision I would never change--it's so special to see each other for the first time as you meet at the alter, or in our case--the middle of a bridge over a koi pond! Writing our own vows gave our ceremony a very personal touch and allowed us to just be ourselves--and allowed our guests a way to view our relationship even more. We loved being surrounded by our closest friends and family who had flown near and far (one couple from London!) to help us celebrate a day 8 years in the making. Our favorite part of the day was the private dance we had at the end of the reception, as guests were preparing for the sparkler exit. I, however, really enjoyed being surprised by the groomsmen's serenade of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," a fraternity tradition that David incorporated into the garter toss! The horse-drawn carriage ride away from the reception was a wonderful way to wrap up the day--getting to ask about each other's favorite parts of the day and realize that we're finally married!"
